Meinl official december 2012 release

Meinl increases NAMM floor space by 40%
Meinl has increased its floor space at the upcoming Winter NAMM 2013 to a total of 2,800 square feet (approx. 260 square meters). This is an addition of 40% in floor space compared to the company’s previous NAMM exhibit sizes.

“40% more space is a significant increase of our total exhibit area,” comments Meinl’s Udo Heubeck. “With this investment, especially in times like these where the global economic situation becomes harder and harder, we are showing a strong commitment to the American market. At the same time NAMM is a globally important show in our industry. It also sends a signal to our distributors in all the countries around the world where we have established fruitful business relations.”

The Winter NAMM Show will take place from January 24th until January 27th 2013 in Anaheim, California. Meinl invites you to stop by their booth number 3454 and 3464.

Meinl Cymbals is extremely proud to welcome Robert 'Sput' Searight to its family of cymbal artists.
Sput is a legend to those who know him. Just his answer when asked what the highlights of his career have been so far tells you a lot about Sput and how killer his drumming has to be: 1. Winning a Grammy Award 2. SuperBowl 2010 in Miami with Timberland, Jo Jo and Justin Timberlake 3. Storytellers with Snoop Dogg.

Sput is being recognized more and more for his outstanding work with Snarky Puppy, a group that has been hailed as being a part of the New Face of Jazz. To have your mind thoroughly blown, check out the DVD/CD packages 'Tell Your Friends' and 'Ground Up,' live projects that were recorded and filmed in front of intimate and small audiences set in recording studios. 'Tell Your Friends' and the buzz that it generated laid the foundation for the release of 'Ground Up' to become one of the most anticipated Jazz releases of 2012. When it hit, it debuted at #3 on the iTunes Jazz charts.

Recently, John L. Waters of the Guardian UK paper had this to so say about Snarky Puppy in his review of their performance at the London Jazz Festival; an excellent description of this unstoppable band. "The unstoppable Snarky Puppy – led by composer/bassist Michael League – sound as if they've absorbed and reinvented almost the entire history of jazz fusion. The 'F' word is still an embarrassment (and a licence to doodle) in some quarters but League has figured out what's good and vital about the genre, and has a band that plays his compositions with such energy and confidence it's as if keyboard synthesisers had just been invented. Using three horns and a big, tight rhythm section (with guest Jason Marsalis adding righteous New Orleans grooves to a couple of numbers), League's tunes prowl the entire jazz-rock landscape, integrating reggae, funk and Afro-Cuban rhythms with blistering ensemble passages and solos that had the crowd at Shoreditch's XOYO yelping for more."

Robert 'Sput' Searight is using Meinl Byzance Traditional, Byzance Vintage, Byzance Jazz, Byzance Extra Dry and Generation X Series cymbals exclusively.
