Queen Elizabeth Hall - Sunday 15 April 2012; 7.30pm
Alchemy presents a boundary breaking collaboration between internationally acclaimed percussionist Pete Lockett and 16 traditional musicians from the Shekawati and Marwar regions of Rajasthan. Pete has worked with the likes of A.R. Rahman, Peter Gabriel, Robert Plant, U Shrinivas and TH Vikku Vinayakram to name a few. From the moment he met the 16 musicians in the desert villages north of Jaipur, there was an instant musical connection. Following their joyful and exhilarating festival performances in India, the project comes to Europe for the first time.
A Jodhpur RIFF Production presented and co-produced by the South Bank Centre. Generously supported by Indian Council for Cultural Relations, Jaipur Heritage Trust (UK) and Jodhpur RIFF.
The show is part of the Alchemy festival.
